Jobs, Postdoc

Postdoctoral Fellowships:

Neurotechnology, Systems and Computational Neuroscience, Neural Engineering and Neural Prostheses

Postdoctoral positions are available in the neurotechnology group at Brown University. Our group is exploring the fundamental science and engineering required to record and model the activity of the central nervous system. The goals of the group are to understand neural computations and to develop novel neural motor prostheses. Successful applicants will be part of an interdisciplinary team spanning neuroscience, engineering, computer science, applied mathematics and neursurgery.

The Brown group is one of the world leaders in neural prosthetic research and is moving forward on an exciting agenda that includes research in systems neuroscience, computational and mathematical models of the brain, algorithms for neural decoding and prosthetic control, robotic control, material science, and novel implantable devices for brain recording and stimulation.

Our work on neural decoding focuses on probabilistic models of the brain and exploits statistical methods and novel machine learning algorithms. We use multi-area, multi-electrode array methods to study the basis of neural computations and representation.

We are seeking candidates who hold or are about to complete a PhD or MD and have experience in neural decoding, neural prosthetics, or brain-machine interfaces. Applicants should have strong mathematical and computational skills. Exposure to machine learning, systems neuroscience, statistical signal processing, or control theory is also desirable. Applicants should also be eager to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.

Applicants should submit a CV and statement of research interests directly to Dr. Donoghue.
