Cross-correlograms tutorial, page 1

Cross-correlograms are a simple tool that neuroscientists use to determine connectivity within the brain. A cross-correlogram is a histogram that simply shows how the spikes of neuron B are distributed in time with respect to the spikes of reference neuron A.

In a moment we will demonstrate how cross-correlograms, also known as as cross-correlations, covariograms, or cross-correlation histograms (CCH's), are made. But first we will discuss what purpose they serve.
